The books screen: a bookmark with one of your notes, a Resume button and the day’s goal as a bar.

Your book gets your attention

Start the timer and put your phone away. Reading time stays visible on your Lock Screen.

  1. Choose your book

Start reading from the app or the Lock Screen widget.

  2. Read at your own pace

Pause or stop on your Lock Screen, without opening the app.

  3. See your progress

Your reading time is saved. Add your page if you want to keep your place too.

Pause, stop and a new note — without leaving the session.
The Dynamic Island with the timer running: pause, a note and stop.
The timer stays visible when you leave the app. Pause, stop and add a note right in Dynamic Island.

Make room for reading, every day

A daily goal and a calendar turn small reading sessions into progress you can see.

A goal that fits your day

Start with 20 minutes or choose your own goal in Settings.

Room for a missed day

Enable streak freeze to keep your streak through one missed day a week.

Statistics: the goal ring, a seven-day streak, the reading calendar with a used freeze, the month and half a year in bars.
The goal ring, the streak and the reading calendar on one screen.

The thought arrives mid-chapter — and stays

Save thoughts, quotes and ideas for each book. Open a new note while the timer runs, or dictate a thought with Siri.

Photograph a book page or add a screenshot. Pagetime recognizes the text on your phone so you can select a passage and check it before saving.

Notes: quotes, thoughts and ideas from every book, with a search and filters. The new note sheet: the kind of note, the text field and photographing the page.
Every note from every book — search, filters, favourites.

Someone to talk the book over with

Bring your questions about a character or a passage. AI uses your reading progress and notes to help you explore them.

Talk through a book

Ask a question, explore another interpretation or look more closely at a quote.

Return to your own ideas

Get a book summary or a monthly recap based on your notes.

The first twenty AI answers are free, and sync is free for the first seven days after you sign in: try them before you pay.

Example conversation about Elizabeth Bennet: a reader’s question, an AI reply and the option to save it to notes.

What it costs

The timer, library and notes are free. A subscription adds AI and syncing across devices.

Free, always

  • Reading timer, goals and stats
  • Your books, notes and photographed pages
  • Offline, with no account or ads

With the subscription

  • AI conversations, summaries and recaps
  • Sync between your devices

In the US, $8 a month or $80 a year; other countries have their own price on Apple’s scale. The App Store shows the exact amount in your currency before you buy.

Yours, and it stays yours

Text recognition on your phone

Photos of pages stay on your device. Sync transfers the recognized text, not the photo.

No ads, nothing sold on

We make money on the subscription, not on you. The tracker stays free and works offline.

Questions people ask before installing

Do I need an internet connection?

The timer, your books, notes and reading stats work offline. AI, sync and fetching book details from Apple Books need an internet connection.

What if I read paper books?

Yes. Read your own paper book or e-book, and use Pagetime to track your time and keep notes.

How do I add a book?

Enter the title and author yourself, or find the details through Apple Books. You can also paste an Apple Books link to fill in the available details.

What happens when the subscription ends?

Your books, notes and stats stay on your phone. New AI requests and uploading new changes require a subscription; downloading previously synced data does not.

Which iPhone do I need?

Any one running iOS 17 or newer. The Dynamic Island where the phone has one; on the rest the timer lives on the lock screen.
